The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum. It was started up as a result of a realization that the world is now being highly influenced by young people. The community is a network of hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a contribution to their communities. The Community has more than 450 hubs found in each major city of the world. It is comprised of individuals who are passionate and committed to working towards contributing to changing the state of the world through various community projects.
The Lusaka Global shapers are members of the Global shapers community which was established in September 2011 at the Annual meeting of the New Champions. They are a network of outstanding young Zambians aged between 20 and 30 who are dedicated to making a difference in their communities and want to develop their leadership potential towards serving society. To that end, the hub undertakes localBprojects to improve communities. The Lusaka hub constitutes Entrepreneurs, Technology and Digital Media specialists, Media influencers, Radio and Television personalities and Economists. The Lusaka Global shapers all have a serving as well as an entrepreneurial spirit, with unique qualities and highly committed to making positive change in our communities.
How does one become a Global Shaper?
Becoming a Global shaper is highly competitive therefore there is an on-going application process for each hub. Every year, young, passionate and committed people are advised to apply to join the Community. Anyone, regardless of age, who is passionate about seeing a better Community is encouraged to step forward and join a movement of movers and shakers who are willing to have a sit at the table of leadership.
